⌨️ 1. Keyboard Shortcuts & Navigation

Paster is designed for lightning-fast, keyboard-driven productivity without taking your fingers off the keyboard.

Global Shortcuts

• Alt + V (or customizable): Open the Floating HUD search shelf.
• Win + Shift + V: Open the Full Library Window.
• Esc: Close the floating HUD or cancel search.

Inside the Floating HUD

• ↑ / ↓ or ← / →: Navigate through copied clips.
• Enter: Paste the selected clip directly into the active window.
• 1 through 9: Quick-paste the corresponding indexed clip immediately.
• Delete or Backspace (with clip selected): Remove item from history.
• Tab: Switch between clip categories (All, Text, Images, Colors, Code, Files).

🔍 2. On-Device Screenshot & Image OCR

Whenever you copy a screenshot, diagram, or image, Paster automatically indexes all text inside the visual clip using native Windows Media OCR (Windows.Media.Ocr).

• Instant Search: Type any word visible in a screenshot into the Paster search bar to find the exact image immediately.
• Copy Text from Image: Click the "Extract Text" icon on any image card to copy the recognized text directly to your clipboard.
• 100% Offline: OCR runs locally on your PC's CPU/GPU. No images or text are ever sent to external cloud APIs.

⚡ 3. Sequential Paste Queue

Copying multiple fields from a document to fill into a web form or spreadsheet? The Paste Queue lets you batch copy and paste in order.

• Enqueue Items: In the Library or HUD, select multiple clips and press Shift + Q to add them to your active queue.
• Sequential Pasting: Each time you press your paste hotkey, Paster pastes the next item in the stack automatically.
• Clear Queue: Click the Queue icon in the tray menu or press Esc to dismiss.

🛡️ 4. Sensitive Data Filters & Ignored Apps

Keep passwords, private API keys, and sensitive tokens safe from being recorded into your history.

Ignored App Rules

Go to Settings → Privacy & Ignored Apps and add applications you want Paster to ignore. Paster already comes with pre-configured rules for popular password managers including:

• 1Password, Bitwarden, KeePass, LastPass, Dashlane, Enpass
• Windows Credential Manager
• Private / Incognito browser windows

Sensitive Pattern Suppression

Paster automatically filters out strings matching common sensitive structures such as:

• OpenAI / GitHub / AWS API Keys and Bearer tokens
• RSA / SSH Private Key blocks (BEGIN PRIVATE KEY)
• .env file content blocks and connection strings
• Credit Card Number formats (Luhn-checked)

🔑 5. License Activation & Device Seat Management

How to Activate Your License

After purchasing Paster from Polar.sh, copy your license key, open Paster, go to Settings → License, paste your key, and click Activate.

Transferring License to a New PC

If you upgrade or replace your Windows computer, open Paster on your old PC, click Deactivate License in Settings, and you can immediately activate your key on your new machine.

Receipts & Invoices

All receipts, VAT/tax invoices, and license keys can be retrieved anytime through the Polar.sh Customer Portal.

🔧 6. Troubleshooting & Database Storage

Where is data stored on disk?

All clips, settings, and OCR indices are stored locally in SQLite at:

How do I backup or reset my database?

• Backup: Copy the %APPDATA%\Paster\paster.db file to an external drive or cloud backup folder.
• 1-Click Database Reset: Go to Settings → Storage → Clear Database to wipe all history cleanly.

Clipboard Not Capturing?

• Check if clipboard monitoring is Paused in the system tray menu.
• Verify that the active application is not listed in your Ignored Apps list.
• Ensure Paster is running in the background (check Windows System Tray icons).
